Helpful Tips To Brew The Perfect Cup
Start

An Introduction

We want to start out this by saying that best way to make a cup of coffee is the way you like it. That being said we would like to give our suggestions on how to make a great cup of coffee.

Tip 1

Always start with fresh roasted coffee beans from Shark Coffee. Pick your favorite single origin or blend to use, or try a new one. After you receive the beans store them in a canister that will reduce the oxygen exposure so that the beans will keep their freshness as long as possible. We recommend using an Airscape Stainless Steel Coffee Canister. This will allow the CO2 from the beans to vent while keeping oxygen away from the beans.

Tip 2

We are proponents of the pour over method of coffee brewing. It takes a little bit longer than just throwing the coffee into a coffee machine and letting it go. The benefits are that you have more control over each step of the process and extract the maximum flavor. Start off by grinding your beans on a medium setting in a conical burr coffee grinder.

Tip 3

The optimum ratio is 1 gram of coffee to 17 grams of water, make sure the water you use is good quality water, either bottled or filtered. Put the grounds into a metal pour over filter.

Tip 4

Add a little salt to your grounds which helps cut some of the bitterness from the coffee.  Just pour a pinch (roughly 1/8 teaspoon) into your coffee grounds before brewing. Heat your water to between 195-205 degrees in a electric water kettle.

Slowly pour the heated water over your grounds in a circular pattern and let the water pass though to you cup or thermos. If you want add cream/sugar to taste.
